Preparations for the seventh edition of the Dhangadhi Premier League (DPL) are in their final phase, organisers say. Six teams will take part this year.
Floodlight installation at the Fauzdari cricket ground is complete, making evening matches possible for the first time. “Spectators do not come out in the afternoon heat. We expect evening matches to fill the ground,” an organising committee member said.
Previous editions of the DPL have sent players from Sudurpaschim into the national side. This year each team must field at least three local players.
Total prize money has been increased on last year. Players note, however, that the ground's drainage remains poor, leaving matches at risk of being called off if it rains.
